As you are no doubt aware, Amazon is currently conducting R&D on automated drones that will deliver your order under five pounds within 30 minutes.
Personally, I am all for it. But I do have a number of questions…
• What if you’re not home?
• How does it knock on your door?
• How does it identify you and not give your package to someone else?
•What happens if they malfunction – does your order drop in the middle of Who-Knows-Where?
• If it does drop your package in the middle of Who-Know-Where, is Amazon liable for injuries or property damage?
I’m sure there are people much smarter than me considering all the unforeseen possibilities. And when they figure it all out and the system goes live, I’m sure it won’t become self-aware or anything. Or if it does become self-aware, I’m sure it will take a long time.
