A Question About Crucifixes and a Glorious Answer

While out-of-town a few days ago, I took the opportunity to go to a LifeWay store to browse. I was looking at the artwork when a customer came in and asked a nearby manager if they carried crucifixes. When a manager replied in the negative, she was questioned regarding the rationale.

“Uh oh,” I thought. There are those in Baptist world that are very passionate about that question, one way or the other.

She said that we worship the resurrected Lord, not His cross.

As Easter approaches, I am grateful for the cross upon which my King shed His precious blood. But I am even more grateful that He did not stay in the grave, but rose again on the third day, conquering sin and death. A most precious gift for such a worm as I. And I will get to see Him face to face someday.

Needless to say, I was quite impressed with her answer, and made sure to let her know.
