#NWLC11 Part 4 – How to Stay Motivated for Ministry

For my first session on Tuesday, I attended Buddy Owens’ workshop entitled How to Stay Motivated for Ministry. In addition to the outline provided to us, I wrote down a few notes of my own. Words in italics are quotes…

  • Anybody got a church that is deacon-possessed?
  • Never get over the wonder of grace.
  • Every one of Jesus’ miracles (23 of them) in the book of Matthew is the result of an interruption.
  • Unforgiveness is a sign of ungratefulness regarding God’s grace.
  • As long as my hands are around someone’s throat in unforgiveness (Matthew 18:10), they cannot be open to receive from God.
  • Psalm 100:4 says, “Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name!” Notice the order… First we give thanks; then we praise.
  • When religious activity takes the place of spiritual intimacy, the heart begins to harden.
  • It is impossible to be thankful and not smile.
  • Every problem I’ve ever had has one thing in common… ME!
  • You can’t wait when you are in a hurry.
  • The first secret to originality is to conceal your sources.
  • Do I have a faith that’s worth imitating?
