Today Was a Great Palm Sunday!

What a great day at church! Our children’s ministry did a wonderful job on their Easter musical. Lyd had a solo on You Are My King, and Tony held the cross as two other boys knelt (I had seen it multiple times before and it still gripped me).

Also, today was Lyd’s first communion as a believer in Christ, and it was my first day back behind the keyboard at LBT. And full altars are always a good thing.

How was your Palm Sunday?

Music Monday – The Acoustic Sessions: Volume One by Casting Crowns

Need something new to listen to this week? Casting Crowns just released their new album of acoustic music, and it is fabulous. I say this with all due deference to Mark Hall, but I feel that this is the album they couldn’t do at the beginning of their recording career. His vocals have matured over the years and are very good on this record.

Check it out. You’ll be glad you did. If you use Spotify, listen below.

My New Fav – TobyMac’s New Album

My first Christian concert was by a hip hop group which, at the time, was known as DC Talk.

Finding New Music for Worship, Then and Now

My wife and I were in the car, listening to the Spotify playlist I put together from my last NoCamo post. As we drove along, I marveled aloud about the difference between finding new music today as opposed to, say, 30 years ago. Continue reading “Finding New Music for Worship, Then and Now”

Scriptures for Praise and Worship on 091111

Every week, I study the scriptures that inspired the songs we will sing when we gather in corporate worship. Starting today, I am going to post these scriptures for our church to read and pray through before we join together on Sunday morning… Continue reading “Scriptures for Praise and Worship on 091111”

Worship Cohort, Belleville, Illinois

This afternoon, the Worship Cohort of the Belleville, Illinois area got together at Christ Church for its monthly meeting. We had a terrific time. There’s just something about gathering together with others of similar calling, talking through issues and celebrating successes together.

We had a time of worship and a couple of hours of discussion. I won’t go into what we talked about because we didn’t discuss sharing our conversations outside that choir room, but suffice it to say that we had liberty to push back on each other’s views without hurt feelings or fear of retribution. Just an open discourse on all things worship and gospel.
