I have been struggling with what response, if any, we as Christians should have to the various public officials that have lashed out against Chick-Fil-A and Dan Cathy for his stand against same-sex marriage. Veiled threats of restrictions to new retail locations have come forth in a few cities, and general disdain for Cathy’s views have been issued by several groups.

As the day draws near to my first ever 5K race, I am getting nervous. And I’m not really sure why.
I have never been… well… fast. Ever. I was a slow runner as a kid, an artsy teen, and an obese young adult. Not fast.
I know in my head that I’m not “racing” in a couple of weeks, but I do know that I will be around a few hundred others that are. And though I’m in this 5K as an expression of my commitment to better health and stewardship of my body, I want to do well.
But is that prideful? I don’t mean for it to be. (more…)
Nobody needs a map anymore.
This is news to exactly, well, no one. GPS, smartphones, in-dash navigation… eventually, our cars themselves will get us where we need to go.
But none of those navigation methods work without a destination. An end point. A dropped pin on a landscape. I need to go there.
With these solutions, the route is less important, at least initially. The destination is of primary concern.
God works differently. He knows the destination, and the route is of primary concern. (more…)
